William J. Drescher

William J. Drescher, Sr., passed away peacefully at home on Sunday September 3, 2017. He was born in Syracuse on September 8, 1922 the son of Anthony and Loretta Drescher. One of four children, he was predeceased by brother Howard and sisters Mary Katherine and Rita. His loving wife of 63 years, Mary O'Brien passed away on April 16, 2012. William was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and Syracuse University. He served with the First Infantry Division during World War II in France and Germany. William and Mary were married at St. John the Evangelist and were longtime parishioners of The Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. William was a partner at P. Drescher Co. for over fifty years and retired as President. His greatest enjoyments were antique automobiles, researching genealogy, spending summers at Montario Point with family and friends, and traveling to Hutchinson Island, Florida for winters. He was a member of several fraternal organizations. He is survived by his seven loving children; Anne (Harry Louise), Peter (Mary Mastroianni), William Jr. (Lucinda Gullett), Paul (Maureen Guy), Mary Ellen, John (Janet LaClair), Elizabeth (Charles Cavallaro) and grandchildren Maria, Laurie, Matthew, Zachary, Brittney, Peter, Chloe, Kristen, Joseph, Sarah, Kathleen, Michael, Molly, Adam, Anna, Andrew, Alexander, Jack, Sara, Jennifer and eleven great grandchildren. Special thanks for the outstanding care given by Nicole, Tammy, Missy and Ernie.
Services will be at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 9th. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dewitt. Calling hours will be prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the church.
