It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Viktor Ikonomi, who left us peacefully on the evening of December 1, 2024, at the age of 86.Born on May 5, 1938, to Mantho and Androniqi Ikonomi, Viktor spent most of his life in Albania. At a very young age he started working as a mechanic to support his family and later he made his way to law school and was one the first cadres graduating in jurisprudence in 1960.
As a young judge, Viktor began his career serving in various areas of Albania where for almost a decade, he gave a significant contribution in institutional building of justice system. These early years shaped his dedication to the rule of law and his unwavering sense of duty. Over the next two decades, he rose to become one of Albania’s most prominent judges, known for his integrity, wisdom, and principled decisions.In the final two decades of his professional life, he established his own practice in civil law. His expertise and unwavering commitment to justice earned him national recognition and deep respect from colleagues and clients. After 55 years of service, Viktor retired with honor, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and professionalism.
Viktor was also a man of immense generosity and warmth. He was always ready to help family and friends in any way he could, embodying kindness and selflessness in everything he did. His love for his family had no limits. Happily Married to Tatjana for 55 years, Viktor was a devoted husband, a loving father to his daughters, and a proud grandfather to his four grandchildren.He is predeceased by his parents, Mantho and Androniqi, and his two older brothers Minella and Jani Ikonomi. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tatjana, his older daughter Evis and her husband Rustan Petrela, his younger daughter Belinda and her husband Bendis Husi; his cherished grandchildren, Redion and David Petrela and Patrick and Anabela Husi; his younger brother Dhimiter Ikonomi; his sister Aliqi Malita; and his nine beloved nephews and nieces.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, the December 6 at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee St., Syracuse, Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday on December 7 the Funeral Home. Burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery DeWitt. Viktor’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and generosity.Rest in peace, Viktor. You will be forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.
