Ruth V. Cranfield, 97, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 4, 2017. Pre deceased by her husband of 64 years Arthur "Babe" Cranfield. Ruth was a graduate of Central High School and the Central City Business Institute. Ruth was employed for many years at several area companies as a secretary and bookkeeper.
A longtime member of the Women's International Bowling Congress Ruth served as Director with the Syracuse Women's Bowling Association for over 30 years. A member emerita, who is enshrined in the associations Hall of Fame. Ruth served as secretary treasurer for fifteen years of the Young American Bowling Alliance (formerly American Junior Bowling Congress) as well as a league official and coach for 25 years at the Valley Sports Center and Erie Blvd. Bowling Center. Ruth was honored by New York State Women's Bowling Assoc. for her service to the youth. Ruth also served as a Board Member of the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame and as a Den mother with the Boy Scouts of America, Ruth organized the Boy Scouts Bowl-at-thon.
Survived by her sons, Lawrence of Syracuse, and Gary of Fair Haven. Grandsons David (Jessica) of Culpeper, Va.; Zachary of Manchester, NH; John of North Hollywood Ca.; Two Step grandson Jason and Eric Dean of Brooklyn; and Granddaughter Kelly of Syracuse;. Five Great-granddaughters, Dominique, Kaelyn, Arianna, and Lia Cranfield of Culpeper, Va. And Scarlet Cranfield of N. Hollywood Ca.
