Rolf Leininger, 93, passed away on October 21, 2022 at the Nottingham RHCF. Born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1929, he immigrated to the United States in 1959 and later became a naturalized United States citizen. He graduated from Staatsbauschule Stuttgard, continued graduate studies and earned M.S.C.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University. Rolf worked 4 years as a structural engineer in Switzerland.
Upon completion of his graduate studies he joined John P. Stopen Engineering Partnership in Syracuse and became Partner-in-Charge of the Geotechnical Engineering Department. He was a licensed Professional Engineer and member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Tau Beta Pi Honorary Engineering Society. He was highly regarded by his clients, architects, engineers , and building contractors for his for his engineering expertise.
Rolf enjoyed flying glider planes, playing the harmonica, hands-on home repairs and travel. He was a generous supporter of many Philanthropic and educational organizations.
Rolf was predeceased by his wife Doris. He is survived by two nephews in Germany . There will be no calling hours of funeral services. Interment will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum. Contributions in Rolf's Memory may be made to the Central New York Community Foundation or favorite charity.
