Robert Palmer

June 12, 1933 — May 15, 2026

Robert (Bob) Palmer, 92, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. Bob was a lifetime resident of Syracuse a graduating from Central High School class of 1951, where he met his wife, Shirley.

Bob was drafted into the United States Army, serving in the Korean war as a Staff Sergeant. Following his honorable discharge in 1954, he began his professional career rising to Vice President of Longley-Jones during his 37 year career in real estate.

Bob loved his family. He was outgoing, kind and caring, and he loved to reminisce about Korea, his time in real estate, and his extended family. As a member of Tuscarora Golf Club for 35 years, he enjoyed the game of golf playing in 2 different golf leagues. He was proud of his 2 holes in 1! He made lasting memories on annual golf trips to Doral, Florida and Thendara in Old Forge, NY.

Pre-deceased by his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley (Kite) Palmer in May 2024; his parents, Harry and Martha (Dombrowski) Palmer; his brothers Arthur, Richard, Bernard and his baby sister Mary Jane; his two adoring nieces Donna Palmer and Linda Palmer Ruddick

Bob is survived by his children: Lori (Patrick) Quirk of Myrtle Beach, SC; Karen (Thomas) Adams of Forestport, NY; Christine (Jerald) Campbell of Liverpool, NY; Robert (Kimberly) Palmer of Huntersville, NC; 6 grandchildren: Stephanie, Frankie, William, Peyton, Preston and Emerson and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 with a calling hour will be held from 10-11:30 am followed by a Funeral Service at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse NY 13224. Bob will be laid to rest with his wife Shirley in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt.
