Richard F. "Ranger" Heck, 76, passed away Saturday April 14, 2018. A graduate of CBA in Syracuse and Syracuse University where he played football for the Orange. Rick served his community as a detective in the Syracuse Police Department, an investigator with the District Attorney's Office and as the recreational director at the Jamesville Correctional Facility. In all his years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything outdoors. He spent 25 years doing exactly what he loved in Alaska, California and Montana before returning to the Syracuse area on horseback from Coeurd'alene ID, where he lived in Camden, NY and Grindstone Island on the St. Lawrence River with his black labs.
Predeceased by his parents Dr. Charles and Lois Heck. Rick is survived by brothers Charles (Orinda) and James (Mona); niece Kimberly (Todd) Goldstein, and nephew Chris (Kelly) Heck.
Ranger was very appreciative for the special care he received from close friends Juanita Willson, Joby Hanford, Dave Archer and his brother Jimmy. A special thank you to Dr. Andrew McKay of Camden, NY for his exceptional care and corncern.
