He was an Air Force veteran serving as a radio operator during the Korean War. Dick had a long career in retail management, working for Fay's Drugs for over 25 years. He was known as Mr. D. to his employees. A creative person, Dick was an avid wood worker, who loved puzzles and drawing. He enjoyed fishing and boating and was a lifelong sports fan. He especially loved the NY Yankees and Syracuse University sports.
Like his wife, Nancy, family was the most important thing in his life. He was affectionately known as Pa by his grandkids. Dick was very proud of all four of his children, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. He enjoyed spending time with everyone and attending their events and activities.
Richard was predeceased by the love of his life, Nancy, to whom he was married for sixty-one years. He was also predeceased by his sister Nancy and parents Ted and Viola. He is survived by four children, Richard J. DeLorenzo, Jr., MD of Niceville, FL; Diane (James) Macri of Jamesville, NY; Michael DeLorenzo of Jamesville, NY; and David (Judy) DeLorenzo of DeWitt, NY. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Amanda (Andrew) Dawson, Meghan Macri, Lauren DeLorenzo, Brian DeLorenzo, Kristen DeLorenzo and one great grandchild Declan Dawson.
Calling hours will be Thursday, February 2nd from 4 to 6 pm at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home. The funeral Mass we be held on Friday, February 3rd at 10 am at Holy Cross Church in DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Cross Church, DeWitt, NY
