Pauline "Polly" deLima Komar, presently of Fayetteville, New York, passed away Sunday, June 2 at the age of 98. She was born in Syracuse to parents Ralph and Ellen Kresge. She graduated from Nottingham High School and attended college at the University of Wisconsin and Syracuse University before marrying her high school sweetheart David deLima in 1946. Polly and David settled in the University section of Syracuse where they raised their four daughters. Polly was a homemaker and volunteered her time with various organizations. She was active in her church at First Baptist Church of Syracuse. She loved traveling, spending time with her family and her many friends. Polly was always there for her family and friends..
After David's death in 1981, she worked part-time at Handworks Yarn Shop. She also continued traveling and took up golf. She married her second husband, Alfred Komar, in 1999. They were married until Al's passing in 2012.
She was predeceased by her husbands David and Al, her daughter Susan deLima in 2021 and her brother Ralph Kresge in 2001. Polly is survived by her children Barbara deLima (Paul Comey), Carolyn Yandon (Chuck) and Kristin Swift (Steve), her grandchildren Jennifer Rizzio (Gary), Carolyn Dabrowiak (Rob), Andrew Piron (Erin Marriott), Laura Piron Makuch, Maggie Swift, David Swift (Danielle) and Hannah Swift, eleven great grandchildren and stepdaughters Carolyn Komar and Kathleen Komar.
Polly was well loved throughout her long life and so fortunate to be cared for by Marcia Disque in her later years.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 14 from 10-11 a.m. at Burns Garfield Funeral Home with services following at 11 a.m. She will be interred at Oakwood Cemetery with her husband, David.
