Paul Robert Mooney passed away, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Born on September 19, 1959, in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Our Lady of Solace School, Christian Brothers Academy, and the State University of New York at Fredonia, class of 1982. Paul swam with the Syracuse Chargers and was a member of the Swim Team at both CBA and SUNY Fredonia.
Paul was a deeply creative individual and a skilled guitarist who performed at many local venues. He was a lover of nature—often found taking in a sunset at Thornden Park or enjoying a walk along a local nature trail. He also enjoyed summers and sailing at Brantingham Lake. Paul was a car enthusiast, an avid shutterbug, and he appreciated the little gifts in life.
Baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Solace, Paul was a communicant of All Saints Church in Syracuse. He is predeceased by his parents, Robert and M. Virginia Mooney, and his brothers, James and John. He is survived by his children Sean, Kelley, Margaret (Tom) Falco, Christine, Natalie, and Stephanie; his grandson Peter Falco; his sisters, Patricia Loucks, Catherine Underhill, Anne Anthony, and Maureen Louis; and many nieces and nephews. Throughout his decades-long struggle with mental health, he loved his family deeply, even from afar. May he now rest in Peace.
