Patricia McMillan

Patricia ‘Patti’ (George) Scolaro McMillan (83) of Auburn and Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, surrounded by her family and the sounds of musical theater and the ocean. 

Born in Indiana, Patti was raised in Union Springs and Auburn NY. She attended Bucknell before graduating from Syracuse University with her Bachelor’s Degree Cum Laude in English and two Master’s Degrees - one in Teaching and the other in Science with a Concentration in Gerontology. After graduation, she married, had two children and spent her career as a teacher, banker, real estate professional, drug and alcohol counselor and writer. She had a contagious laugh and a deep passion for her family, friends, reading, theater, playing cards, watching golf, dancing, shopping and nature, especially her trips to the ocean and Vermont. But, above ALL else, what she loved most was being Grammie to her seven beloved grandchildren Packy, Mitchell, Connor, Riley, Tynan, Helaina and Reide. 

Patti is preceded in death by her mother and best friend, Janice George, father Paul George, sister Nancy Grau (Bob), and first husband Richard S. Scolaro. She is survived by her children Robert D. Scolaro (Michelle) and Lynne Marie S. Jones (Michael); grandchildren Helaina and Reide Scolaro and Packy (Julianne), Mitchell (Jessica Pirro), Connor, Riley and Tynan Jones; great-granddaughters Summer Brooks Jones and Maris Margaret Jones; nieces Cynthia (Grau) Akers and Michelle (Grau) Schuster; and life-long best friend Florence Cucchi. Rest in peace Mom/Grammie. We will love and miss you always. 

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home (3175 East Genesee Street, Syracuse, NY 13224) from 2:00pm to 3:30pm followed by a Celebration of Life service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Skaneateles Library in Skaneateles, New York.
