Olga (Anastasiou) Ioannou of Syracuse passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. She was born on September 11, 1936, in Kato Ydroussa, Florina, Greece. In 1968, Olga courageously immigrated to the United States, where she built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and devotion to family. She was employed for many years at the Julius Resnick Purse Factory and later at the Hotel Syracuse, where she worked as a housekeeper and was respected for her strong work ethic and quiet dedication. She approached her work with humility, diligence, and dignity.
Above all, Olga was devoted to her family and her Church, remaining steadfast in prayer and faithful in all seasons of life. A longtime and faithful member of Saint Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church, she found comfort, strength, and guidance in her Orthodox faith.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Giorgios Ioannou; her parents; four brothers; and four sisters. She treasured her family deeply and is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, who will cherish her memory and the example of strength, faith, and endurance she leaves behind.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Saint Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Road, Syracuse, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church in her memory.
