Nicholas Cook Brust, a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, passed away on December 30, 2025, at the age of 88.

Nick was born on November 29, 1937, in Syracuse, New York, the youngest child of Constance and John Brust. He attended Nottingham High School and The Taft School before graduating from St. Lawrence University, where he met Caroline Angotti, his wife of more than 60 years.

Nick was predeceased by his wife Caroline, his parents, and his sister Margaret. His mother Constance later remarried. He is survived by his bother John (Meridee) Brust, children, Matthew Cook Brust and Kathryn Brust Adams; his grandchildren, Jack Adams and Mason Adams; and half-brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Nick lived in Syracuse for his entire life. Soon after their marriage, he and Caroline moved to Fayetteville, New York. They were longtime members of the Cazenovia Ski Club and proud members of the Onondaga Golf and Country Club for more than 50 years. One of Nick’s greatest joys was his hole-in-one.

Nick treasured a lifetime of friendships, including an annual fishing trip with the Fish brothers. One of his favorite places was the family camp on Limekiln Lake in the Adirondacks, built by his grandfather and enjoyed by generations.

Nick spent his career with KeyBank in Syracuse. An accomplished carpenter, he could build or fix just about anything. He also played instruments by ear and was an excellent dancer.

Nick and Caroline loved their friends and their life in Syracuse, leaving behind a legacy of friendship, loyalty, and joy that will be remembered by all who knew them.
