ODE TO THE MATRIARCH
A thousand lights were dimmed as many hearts skipped a beat and were broken
A thousand people knew not why they shed a tear while singers forgot the words to the song
A thousand lives seemed less full as many felt a sense of emptiness
A melded band…Men of Flanders, Sons of Boar, Skilled Builders & Cutters of Cloth….struck up a tune, to which angels sang in perfect harmony while the skies turned the brightest of blues because another beautiful Gaelic soul had come home
And those same souls heard spoken, as if from the sky above, as no one was near “Life is wonderful – if you can remain strong”
