Nancy F. DeLorenzo passed peacefully from this Earth surrounded by her loving family on July 20, 2017. She was born in Syracuse, NY and was a lifelong resident of the area. A devoted Catholic, she and her husband were regular attendees of the Holy Cross Church 4pm mass in DeWitt. Nancy graduated from SUNY Oswego with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. She taught at local schools including St. Margaret's.
Family was the most important thing in her life. She was affectionately known as Sassy by her grandkids. A nickname that started when her oldest granddaughter (Amanda) was very young and pronounced Nancy as Sassy. Nancy was very proud of all four of her children and five grandchildren. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with everyone and attending their events and activities. Nancy also greatly cherished her family trips to Florida, San Antonio, Cape Cod, and England/Scotland.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of sixty years Richard J. DeLorenzo and four children, Richard J. DeLorenzo, Jr., MD of Niceville, FL; Diane (James) Macri of Jamesville, NY; Michael DeLorenzo of Jamesville, NY; and David (Judy) DeLorenzo of DeWitt, NY. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Amanda and Meghan Macri and Lauren, Brian, and Kristen DeLorenzo. She was predeceased by her parents George and Frances Brown and sister Eleanor (James) Burns.
Calling hours will be Monday, July 24 from 4 to 6pm at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee St. Syracuse. The funeral mass is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, 11am at Holy Cross Church in DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nancy's memory to Holy Cross Church, DeWitt, NY.
