Dr. Michael Theodore Jaworski, 63, passed away peacefully on February 19th, surrounded by his closest loved ones following a long illness.
Michael was born in Syracuse on May 6th, 1954, and grew up in Jamesville, where he attended Jamesville-DeWitt schools (Go Rams!). Michael pursued and attained his medical degree at the University of Texas at Houston, eventually going on to specialize and become a board-certified Psychiatrist. Due to his great mastery and care, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) presented him with the "Exemplary Psychiatrist Award" in 2002.
Michael was a loving father, devoted husband, a caring and skillful physician, and a wonderful friend to all. Michael's unique blend of wisdom, humor, and patience made him a man that all were proud to have known. Michael had the ability to communicate effectively with everyone, which gave him the rare ability to brighten anyone's day, without fail.
Michael was predeceased by his mother and father, Marian and John Jaworski of Jamesville, as well as his older brother, John Jaworski (Joanie) of Syracuse.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 27-years, Cathy, and their three sons, John, Cole, and Reed, who were always his pride and joy. He also leaves his brother Dr. Robert Jaworski (Maurine), as well as his sister Janice Burton (Fred), and his sister-in-law Joanie Jaworski. Michael will also be missed by his huge family filled with loving nieces and nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Monday February 26th from 4-7pm at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse. Anyone who was touched by Mike is invited to come and celebrate his life. A funeral service in Celebration of Michaels Life will be on Tuesday at 11am at the funeral home. We ask that any donations in Michael's name.be made to the National Kidney Foundation of CNY.
