Maureen Marie Raslan

Maureen Marie Raslan (née Franklin), 71, of Jamesville, NY went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2025, after a long battle with illness.

She was born May 4, 1954 in Newport, New York - daughter of (late) Arthur Floyd and (late) Bernadine Mary (née Caldwell) Franklin. An excellent student, she graduated with honors from West Canada Valley Central School in 1972.

Maureen earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from SUNY Oswego, where she met her beloved husband of 47 years, Amin Muhammad Raslan. Maureen moved to Syracuse with her husband where she worked as a computer programmer. She also supported her husband as he started a small business, before she transitioned to homemaker until her youngest was in school.

Maureen and Amin successfully ran several small businesses in the Syracuse area. They raised their four children, Christopher, Nicholas, Laila, and Gregory in the Fayetteville-Manlius district.

Maureen was loving, intelligent, hard-working, humble, compassionate, judicious, and a person of genuine faith.

Maureen is predeceased by her husband Amin Raslan, father Arthur Franklin and mother Bernadine (née Caldwell), brother Eugene Franklin, sister Geralyn Hillman (née Franklin), and brother Bernard Franklin.

Maureen is survived by four children: son Christopher and spouse Deanna, son Nicholas, daughter Laila, and son Gregory. In addition, she leaves behind her brother Arthur (Deiann) Franklin, brother Albert (Betty) Franklin, sister Mary (L. Allan) Agne, brother Gerard (Carol) Franklin, sister Monica (Gary) Sheppard, sister Jacqulyn (David) Rice, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday October 24th at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E Genesee St Suite 6, Syracuse, NY. A funeral service will also be held at the Funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m., with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
