Mary L. (Doe) Chase

Mary L (Doe) Chase, 89, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at her home in Oneida NY, on January 12, 2016. She was born in Watertown, NY on August 6, 1926, the daughter of Alexander and Marie (DeVeau) Doe. She married the late Paul Everett Chase on June 15, 1946 and was a homemaker her whole life and totally dedicated to her family. She volunteered at the Knoxville Public Library, in Hall , TN, for over 15 years. She was an avid reader, an organic gardener, a faithful Catholic, and the most devoted wife and mother anyone could ask for. Words cannot do justice to this kind and gentle woman, who was a loyal and cherished friend to many others during her lifetime. Mary and Paul lived for many years in Watertown, Clayton and then relocated to Knoxville, TN. Surviving children are Paula Schultz of Oneida, Barbara Chase of Naples, FL, Cynthia Gamage of Syracuse, John (Kim) Chase of Liverpool and Patricia (John) Connor of Syracuse. They had 10 grandchildren, Julia (Dan) Smith, Melissa (Paul) Schmidt, Jacob (Emily Weltman) Gamage, Emily Gamage, Joshua Gamage, Sara (Myles) Fischer, Rachel Chase, Kelly (Arniel) Gomez, Kathryn (David) Wilkins and Leah Connor; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 15, 2016 at Holy Cross Church in DeWitt. Interment will be May 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Glenwood Cemetery, Watertown. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 65 years, Paul E Chase.
