Mary Baker

April 2, 1929 — November 3, 2016

Mary (McCabe) Baker, 87, of Syracuse passed away peacefully Thursday, November 3, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and friends. Mary will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always put the needs and wants of her family above her own.

An avid reader, Mary also enjoyed her weekly bridge games with her garden club and bowling with the "Teddy Bears" in the Syracuse City School District bowling league. She was proud to be a fan of Syracuse Athletics and enjoyed being apart of the university community throughout her adult life.

Mary spent her career as a secretary in the City Schools where she excelled in assisting both staff and students. She especially enjoyed the opportunities to care for and help any students in the many schools where she was able to work. She lived her life with a strong Christian faith and enjoyed regularly attending church and related functions at both St. Andrews and St. Theresa churches.

Predeceased by her husband Philip and her son Brain Mary is survived by her son Marty (Jill) and daughter-in-law Pam; Six grandchildren Jordan-Ashley, Martin-William, Mary-Metta , Philip, Emily and Jennifer; 7 Great Grandchildren .

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Monday, November 7, 2016 at All Saints Church, Lancaster Ave. Syracuse. Calling hours will be Sunday November 6, 2016, from 4-6 pm at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, Syracuse.

The staff of Pace CNY and the Heritage house extended and enhanced the end of Mary's life and for that the family will be forever grateful. Donations in Mary's name may be made to Pace of CNY
