Marjorie K Maynard, age 89, of Syracuse, NY died on December 14, 2020 from COVID 19. She was the daughter of Burnett S Kimber, Gertrude Byer and Irving Byer. She was a child of the depression, born and raised in Central New York.
Marj was a 1948 graduate from Fayetteville High School. She attended Rio Grande College where she met and eloped the day after her 18th birthday with the love of her life. She didn't go to work while raising her 5 children, but was a dedicated volunteer for the Camp Fire Girls. As soon as David went to school, she started working at the family business Byer's Sales. She retired in 2006 from Gallinger Real Estate and remained active as a volunteer for the Syracuse City School District. She was an avid SU basketball fan and she loved going to see her children and grandchildren participating in their sporting events.
Mom was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Paul Maynard in 2006.
Marj is survived by her children: Kimber (Harry) Friedman, Lynn (Douglas) Gollin, Susan (Robert) Meyer, Rachel (James) Sequin and David (Jill) Maynard; grandchildren: Emily Profitt, Jonathan Friedman, Gillian Perry, Andrea Harris, Sarah Melton, Pamela Sequin, Elaine Lewandowski, Moses Gollin, Michelle Gollin and Alison Maynard; great grandchildren: Lev and Genny Profitt, Michael and Elizabeth Perry, Amelia Harris, Marie and Timmy Melton. She is also survived by her four brothers: Mike, Dick, Fred and Steve Kimber; cousin: Mike Bain and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 10 am at St. Alban's Church, 1308 Meadowbrook Dr, Syracuse, NY 13224. There will be no calling hours
