Marilyn M. Oparil, 97, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, in Washington, DC. Marilyn was born in Elmira, NY on April 13, 1923 to the late James and Mary (Rudnick) Lynch. She graduated from Elmira Business Academy. She married her husband, Richard, in 1959 and moved to Syracuse, NY. Their son, Richard J. Oparil, was born in 1960. Marilyn was an active parent at Our Lady of Lourdes School. She has been a parishioner at Holy Cross Church since 1980. Marilyn loved gardening, Christmas decorating, spending time with her family and friends, and watching Dancing With the Stars and CNN. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard, and sister and brother, Mary Virginia and James Lynch. Marilyn is survived by her son, Richard, daughter in law, Donna M. DeSilva, granddaughters, Kimberly M. Oparil, DVM, and Maria A. Oparil, granddaughter in law, Amy Oparil, DVM, and several nieces and nephews. Due to the coronavirus, no services will be held.
