Marie Elizabeth Christopher passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021 in Oneida, NY after a long illness. She was born on September 26, 1957 in Utica to Helen Mary (Klemm) Christopher and Anthony Dominick Christopher. She lived for most of her adult life in Liverpool, NY.
Marie retired in 2018 after many years of service with the NY State Department of Labor as a Senior Employment Counselor in Syracuse. She also conducted the Job Search Forum and 911 workshops at CNY Works.
Marie loved food: baking, collecting recipes, dining out, eating at home, sharing a meal, and reading about restaurants. She was enthusiastic about being outdoors: she took part in many running races, including 15 Utica Boilermakers and 5 marathons; and she loved the family farm in the Adirondacks, spending many weekends there running, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing for over 30 years year-round. After her running days waned she took up Karate, rising to the level of second degree Black Belt. And after that, she could be found fitness walking around her neighborhood early in the morning before work, frequently covering as much as 5 miles.
Marie loved animals: over the years she had many cats – she really loved her cats. In her retirement she volunteered at PetSmart in their pet adoption center. She filled her home with photo albums and enjoyed traveling with her mother. She especially loved music, a passion she shared with her brother, Paul. She really, really loved her family.
Marie is predeceased by her parents: her father when she was just a young girl; and her mother just this past summer. She is survived by her two brothers: Peter of Syracuse, and Paul & his wife Kerri of Louisiana.
