Saturday July 25, 2020 Maria (Miko) Sinitsas passed away of natural causes at the age of 87. Maria was born September 26, 1933 in Flambouro, Florina, Greece. She immigrated to the States in 1966 with her husband of 70 years Anastasios Sinitsas and children.
Maria was a devoted homemaker and a member of St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church. She enjoyed gathering with her friends in preparation for the Greek Cultural Festival along with making pitas, she was one of the original pita ladies.
While enjoying her grandchildren she passed down many Greek traditions, but most of all, her love of family gatherings, gardening, sewing, and her stories of the village.
Maria is preceded in death by her son Konstantinos (Kocho) Sinitsas, her older sister Olga Pines and her younger brother Soterios Kiritsis. She is survived by her husband Anastasios (Tassi), her loving daughter Stavroula (Loulla) and husband George Politis, sister-in-law Despina Kiritsis, five grandchildren, Georgianna (Alen) Trpevski, Marianna (Chris) Tacea, Kristoforos Politis, Marika Sinitsas, Katherine Sinitsas and five great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews in Greece, Australia, and the States.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday July 28th at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church 325 Waring Rd, Syracuse, NY. A celebration of life will be held at a later time. Donations may be made to St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Rd, Syracuse, NY 13224
