Maria-Luisa Lee was born into a huge and loving family rich in both Spanish and Filipino customs. Along with her family, she survived the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War II.
She attended the Sacred Heart Convent School and was a postulant in the convent, when her grandmother suggested she take time to decide about becoming a nun. During that time off, she met the love of her life, Charles Lee while he worked as an Engineer in the Philippines.
They were married in 1952, settled in Syracuse, and eventually moved to Jamesville, NY. Maria-Luisa worked in retail stores, and later at the Syracuse University Health Services where she made lifelong friends.
Maria-Luisa befriended every person she ever met and wasn't shy about asking for a hug or saying "I love you". She loved life, her family, the arts, golf, and shoes.
Her faith was always deeply important to her and she felt strongly about supporting the church whether on the altar rosary society, or through generous donations.
The best gift to remember Maria-Luisa is to pass her contagious and positive energy along to others.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Lee, children Bill, John (Karen), Marisa McGuire (Mark), Tina (Robb Sharpe), and five grandchildren, Andrew and Katie Hutchison, Lauren McGuire (Alex Webb), John Lee, Jr., and Daniel Lee.
A mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday April 6, 2018 at Holy Cross Church at Noon. Calling hours will be in the Chapel of the church from 11-12pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Holy Cross Church, 4112 E. Genesee St., Dewitt NY 13214
