Margaret (Fontana) Manfredi, 86, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 18th with her loving family at her side. A life resident of Syracuse Margaret was a graduate of North High and a dedicated employee of NY Telephone Co. for over 35 years.
Margaret will be remembered as strong, generous and caring woman who devoted her life to her five loving children. Always placing the needs of others above herself, she opened her heart and home to friends and family whenever they were in need. Margaret's favorite activities included scratching a lottery ticket or playing the slots with whoever was lucky enough to accompany her on a trip to the casino.
Predeceased by her parents Pio and Josephina (Mule) Fontana ; Sisters Josephine and Angelina and brother William. Survived by her husband, Salvatore, her five children James (Maureen), Robert, Thomas, Mary and JoAnn; her loving sisters Emelia and Frances; Four Grandchildren Cara, Emma, Matthew and Maria; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Iroquois Nursing home for the tremendous care given to their mother.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday October 21, 2016 from 3-7 pm at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at All Saints Church, 1340 Lancaster Ave at 9 am on Saturday. Burial to follow in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
