Majdi Afif Essi, passed away on July 30, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born January 26, 1947, in Amman, Jordan to Afif & Nadia Essi. Majdi served in the Jordanian army before immigrating to Syracuse in 1968 where he became a NYS certified welder working for Carrier & G.A. Braun. In retirement he opened Mom's Diner with his family in 2003. He married his wife Nour in 1976, and together they raised four children. His home was always open to family and friends. Majdi will be remembered as a generous community member of Westcott Nation, loved by all.
Predeceased by his son Afif, brother Majid, sister Majida and his parents. Left behind to mourn his loss are his loving wife Claire (Nour), his children Yvonne, Majid (Elizabeth) & Hisham. 7 siblings; Majdolene, Maha, Maher (Malika), Muna (Robert), Munjed (Jane), Mirvat, (Gabriel), Midhat and sister in-law Eileen. Along with many nieces and nephews, especially Sammer Essi whom he considered a son, Jeannette, Lawrence, Michael, Norah, Marie, Nadia, Emily, Catherine, Philip, Alex, Jordan, Sirel, Sammy, Suraya, Adam & Hisham.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, August 2, 2024 at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church. Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm at the Church, 4988 Onondaga Rd. Syracuse NY 13215.
