Lorraine D. Forst passed away on November 8, 2024, in her home, in the presence of her loving daughters Cynthia and Pamela having lived with gusto throughout her 95 years. Lorraine was an extraordinary lady and a friend to many. She was a lover of music, movies and an avid reader. She was a passionate golfer and in her earlier days was known to sink more than a few baskets from across the court. She remained a devoted fan of golf and basketball long after she stopped playing and could recite players’ stats like any sports broadcaster.
Lorraine was born to parents Esther and Joseph Glass of Baldwinsville, New York, and married David Forst in 1949. After living in Detroit for a few years, they returned to Baldwinsville living a short distance from the home where she grew up. As a young girl she worked in the family store originally known as Joe Glass Family Shoe Store. Later, she and her husband changed the name of the store to Togs N’ Bootery and owned and operated it until moving to Orlando in 1978. Lorraine returned home to upstate New York in 2020 and lived in Liverpool for the remainder of her life.
Lorraine will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends with whom she had cherished relationships. She is survived by her four loving daughters, Cynthia Forst, Pamela Michel (Daniel), Debra Wilkie, and Lisa Cooper (David). She was a loving grandmother to Vanessa, John, Erin, Sarah, Tamara, Michael, Adam and Daniel and great-grandmother to Scarlett, Avi, Vienna, and Maya and never let the miles that existed between them get in the way of creating wonderful memories and close bonds with each of them.
Lorraine will be buried next to her husband, David, at All Faiths Cemetery in Casselberry, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lorraine’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org or The Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
