Linda Rew

January 25, 1951 — December 5, 2021

Linda K. Rew, 70, found her final peace on December 5th after a sudden illness. She was born January 25, 1951 in Oak Park, IL. She moved from Oak Park to Villa Park, IL where she attended school until sophomore year of high school. Her family then moved to Batavia, NY where she graduated high school in 1970. She then attended Rochester Business Institute where she studied fashion design and retailing.

She met her husband-to-be, Jeffrey Rew, at college, and they were married April 1, 1972. They moved to the Cortland area and lived in Cincinnatus, NY for 7 years followed by 20 years living in the city of Cortland. She worked at the Serendipity Shop, then worked in manufacturing, at Wilson Sporting Goods making wooden tennis rackets. Her last employer was Pall Trinity Micro Corp, now Danaher Corp., in Cortland where she worked for 26 years. For 20 of those years she was a nuclear welder which seemed to be her niche. She became disabled as of 2001.

Linda was a fantastic mom, sister, and friend and showed her love by showering all of her loved ones with her time, talents, and gifts. She loved traveling and camping with her husband and daughters; and later with her sons-in-law and grandchildren. She was an active mom who was a Girl Scout Troop Leader, parent chaperone, and avid spectator of concerts and sports games. Linda had an eye for the creative arts. She was wonderful at making Halloween costumes, painting, stained glass, and architectural designs.

She continued her zest for craft fairs and interior home decor even after moving to Syracuse in 2002 where she loved her new neighbors and made lots of friends and acquaintances. Linda also became involved with a local Morning Doves women's group, where she thoroughly enjoyed their company, additionally she participated in the Vitality Program at Upstate. This program helped her stave off the symptoms of Parkinson's. Wherever Linda went she would always have stories to tell. She was outgoing, pleasant, and fun to be around.

Linda is survived by her husband, Jeff, as well as her daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Robert Streeter of Evans Mills, NY, and Paisley and Brian Loudon of DePauw, IN. She will be loved and cherished by her four grandchildren. Linda is also survived by her four siblings; Eric Olson (Judy) of Batavia, NY, Jeffrey Olson (Marie) of Batavia, NY, Sara Jo (Timothy) Hubbard of Oklahoma, and Gunnar Olson and brother-in-law Craig Loudon of Northridge, CA, as well as, six nieces and nephew and many grand-nieces and nephews.
