Kenitha (Stockham) Nugent, 94, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 25, 2021.
Kenitha was born in Eastwood on September 18, 1927 and was a life resident of Syracuse. A graduate of Eastwood High School, Kenitha was a loyal employee of Syracuse University before starting her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family and her many "grand dogs" over the years. She was an avid genealogy researcher who loved history and exploring her family tree. She was a friendly face who served as the official greeter to all neighbors and dogs who passed by as she held court on her porch on Ostrom Ave. and in her driveway on Standish Drive. She loved being outdoors soaking up the sun and nearby flowers and birds. She exhibited her dry sense of humor and unmatched fiery sass right up until her passing. She was a proud and active alumnus of Eastwood High School and especially enjoyed her monthly get-togethers with fellow Eastwood alumni at the Steak 'n Sundae in Eastwood.
Kenitha was the youngest of seven children of Henry David Stockham, Sr. and Lena May (Shangraw) Stockham.
Kenitha is predeceased by her parents; sisters Zelda L. Stockham, Thola E. Stockham, Geraldine F. Wademan, Mavis A. Stager; and her brother, Henry D. Stockham, Jr. Kenitha loved her weekly trips to her sister Gerry's house in Camillus to spend time with her sisters and their families. She also loved hosting Aunt Tootsie, Uncle Hank and cousin Carol Ann for Thanksgiving and Christmas morning celebrations.
Kenitha is survived by her daughters, Kim Nugent (Tom Elliott) of Canandaigua, Kelly Nugent (William Badger) of LaFayette, Kristin (Joseph) Mancuso of Syracuse; son William Britt Nugent of Osceola, NY; brother, Donn B. Stockham of Australia; 9 grandchildren, 11 great children, several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Saturday, October 2nd, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee Street, Suite 6, Syracuse, NY 13224. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. A private family graveside service will held at White Chapel Cemetery in DeWitt.
