Kathleen Ann Crouch passed away on March 2, 2024, at 98 years of age. She had a long and wonderful career in education, teaching at the elementary, high school and college levels in Syracuse, except for teaching abroad in France and Germany with the American Army Schools. Kathleen grew up in Newark, NY, attended the Eastman School of Music and graduated from Barnard College. She loved outdoor sports, playing the piano, singing with the Syracuse Chorale, and above all—the French language and her French speaking friends.
She is survived by nephews William J. Schmitt (Ann Marie); John F. Schmitt, Michael J. Schmitt (Marianne) and niece Ann M. Dabrowski (Henry), and many great nieces and nephews. Kathleen was intellectually curious, independent, kind and caring. In turn, she had a cadre of truly special friends and caregivers who surrounded her with love and support. Her deep and abiding Catholic faith sustained Kathleen throughout her life.
