Joy Sipple

February 11, 1933 — March 4, 2021

Joy Leslie Sipple, 88, of Dewitt, peacefully passed away on March 4th. Joy was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 11, 1933, to Helen and Dana Shadrick. She and her 4 younger siblings, Dana, Kathy, Tom and Scott grew up in Ohio. She attended Lakewood High School and Kent State University. Joy embraced her loving married life to Jack Sipple and moved to Syracuse, NY in 1955. Joy shared her vibrant love of life volunteering for Meals on Wheels, in local elementary schools and teaching Religious Education for decades. She was a longtime member of the Bradford Art Group and will be remembered for her beautiful watercolors.
Joy had an exceptional talent of transforming community spaces with beautiful flowers and treasures from nature that were gifts for all to enjoy. Her "English Gardens" were enjoyed by so many. Joy was a vibrant and giving member of Holy Cross, St. Andrew's and St Lucy's Catholic church communities throughout her life.
Joy's love of life, flowers, photographs and children was exemplified in the energy she so freely shared with others in her spontaneous acts of kindness to so many in the community. One of her many gifts was to see the beauty in the world around her from the stones on a beach to the clouds in the sky.
In addition to her devoted husband of 65 years, Jack, Joy is survived by her 6 children: Mark (Tina) Sipple, New Hampshire, Mike (Betsey) Sipple, North Carolina, Beth (Peter) Janick, Michigan, Mary (Mike) Lieder, Connecticut, John (Patricia) Sipple, Ithaca, Tom (Jeanne) Sipple, New York; 18 grandchildren: Andrew, Eileen, Danny, Patrick, Kate, Jenny, Michelle, Nathan, Aaron, Kathryn, Jack, Tommy, Brian, Caroline, Shay, Jack, Ryan, Casey.
