John J. Relihan, 56, of DeWitt, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at home. He was born in Syracuse to the late Thomas M. and Margaret H. Relihan. John graduated from Wm H. Nottingham High School and Onondaga Community College. He was a proud employee of NAPA Genuine Auto Parts, having just celebrated his 35 year anniversary with the company.
John is survived by his sisters, Catherine M, Mary E. and Sheila M. Relihan and Margaret R. Foraker, his brother-in-law, Ron F Foraker and his beloved nieces, Kathleen (Kate) M. Foraker and Selena M. Relihan. He is also survived by his dear aunt, Helen H. Byrnes and her family, his uncle and aunt, Michael and Roberta Harkins, and many cousins and their families. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas M. Relihan, Jr.
"JR" enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, horse racing, his recliner and a cold beer. We will miss his quiet strength and charming smile.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 22 from 4 to 7pm at Burns Garfield Funeral Home, Syracuse. A funeral Mass, in celebration of John's life, will be held at Holy Cross Church, 4112 East Genesee Street, Dewitt at 10 am on Saturday, July 23. Burial will be in Saint Mary's cemetery, at the convenience of his family.
