John Michailidis

John Michailidis of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Friday October 2, 2015. Johnny was a long time employee of the Hotel Syracuse where he worked from 1947 until its closure totaling 54 years of service. John was a permanent fixture of the Hotel Syracuse. He enjoyed sharing stories of his experiences at the Hotel and the people he met encountering thousands of people including Presidents, Congressmen, and Entertainers. Johnny considered his customers close friends in some instances considering them family especially the Burns Family where he served as an essential piece of the family tradition serving Christmas dinner for over 30 years at the Hotel. Following the closure of the Hotel Syracuse Johnny still enjoyed working and shared his talents at the Crowne Plaza Hotel until 2014.
Supplying absolute attention to detail he was a true master of his craft always serving the needs of others before himself. Those who loved Johnny wish to thank his God Daughter Roslyn who provided love, care and support throughout the last years of his life.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Rd Syracuse. Calling hours will be held at the church from 9:30- 10:30 am. Burial to follow in Oakwood-Morningside Cemetery.
