John T. (Jack) Fegley, 90, passed away Thursday after a long illness. Jack was born in Fulton, NY, the son of Catherine and Charles Fegley. A proud veteran of WWII, he served as a Corporal in the US Army Infantry in the Philippines and was selected for the Signal Corps. Jack was a Fulton High School graduate and a cum laude graduate of SU with a BA in Public Accounting. He was a supervising accountant at Western Electric for 13 years in Syracuse and Boston. In 1966, he married Sally Haight of Cortland, NY and they owned and operated several branch offices of Olsten's of Syracuse throughout Central New York for 22 years. After retiring, he continued to pursue other business opportunities. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Charles (Bill) and sister Mary G. Dolan.
A dedicated family man, he is survived by his wife, Sally Haight Fegley; his son John A. and daughter Jean (William) Leiker; grandsons William, Bradley, Brian and Broderick Leiker; sister Therese Fegley; sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth Fegley; brother-in-law William (Catherine) Haight of Cortland and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was an avid sports fan, very active with SU's Hardwood Club and Orange Pack. He enjoyed reading, running and family vacations. He was active in local politics, Little League coaching, served on the Syracuse Rotary, Syracuse Optimists, AMS, and volunteered for Dewitt Community Church, where he was a member.
Calling hours will be held Friday December 4, 2015 from 4-7 PM at Burns-Garfield Life Celebration Home, 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse. A Memorial service will be held at Noon on Saturday December 5th at Dewitt Community Church, 3600 Erie Blvd. Dewitt. Burial in the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery will be held Monday December 7.
