James A. "Jim" Robb

January 21, 1941 — September 1, 2016

James A Robb Jr passed away Thursday September 1, 2016.
Jim was a proud immigrant to the United States at age 15 from the "Old Country" of Glasgow, Scotland. After coming to America, he was a lifelong resident of Dewitt, NY, except for brief times away for college, service in the US Air Force and work. Jim was a graduate of Jamesville Dewitt High School, where he met the love of his life, his wife Katherine (Trina), who pre-deceased him, but was always in his thoughts. He is survived by his daughter, Laurie Anne, as well as two sisters Ann Gonyea and Eileen Robb. Jim is also survived by a sister-in law, brother-in law, several nieces and nephews, as well as grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He will also be missed by many friends who recognized him as compassionate, funny and generous.
Jim was an insurance claims adjuster for his entire career, but more importantly he was committed to volunteering his time in support of numerous community organizations. He was a past president of Dewitt Rotary, as well as supporter of the Salvation Army and the Samaritan Center. He was also a nearly 50 year member of Park Central Presbyterian Church, where he served in a number of volunteer capacities.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 6, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Burns Garfield Funeral Home 3175 E Genesee St, Syracuse, NY. A service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, September 7, at 6pm at Park Central Presbyterian Church. Flowers are welcome, but the family also encourages donations to the Rotary Club of Dewitt, the Samaritan Center and the Salvation Army.
