James A. "JC" Chapman

December 15, 1952 — July 25, 2019

James Andrew Chapman, known fondly as JC, passed away on July 25, 2109. JC graduated from Bishop Grimes HS and attended Syracuse University majoring in Fine Arts. He served in the US Army at the tail end of the Vietnam War. He owned and operated a landscaping and snowplowing business until his retirement at age 62. JC was a diligent, hard-working and responsible owner to his customers. Consequently, he rarely took vacations. Needless to say, his customers loved him.

JC was loved by all whom knew him. He had a genuine interest in other people and their lives, a trait inherited from his Dad, Big Jim. JC's passions in life were Jesus Christ, his family, Yankees, SU Orangemen, golf and Seinfeld reruns. As a catcher, JC was the backbone of the Dewitt Supersonics Little League team. JC achieved "LEGENDS" status in the annual OGCC Brother's Tournament, having won the event a few times. His faith in the Lord and life everlasting reunites JC with Mom and Dad.

JC was predeceased by his loving parents, Kay (2010) and Jim (2011). He is survived by his three brothers: George, his daughters, Stephanie Moore (Troy) and Katie Chapman, and their mother Sally Chapman; Brad (Maryellen) and their daughters, Bridget and Kelly; and Jeff (Catherine) and their daughters, Alexandra and Courtney; as well as 4 grand nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

In the last year of JC's life, he volunteered on a daily basis at the local Syracuse Veteran's Hospital, helping other vet's like himself. Donations can be made in his memory to The CNY Research Corporation of the VA.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday July 30th from 4-7pm at the Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee St, Syracuse. www.burnsgarfield.com
