Henry Blizzard

January 11, 1918 — December 14, 2018

Henry Maynard Blizzard, 100, of Jamesville, NY, formerly of Wells, NY, passed away peacefully on December 14th with family by his side. He was the eighth child born to Emma Fowler and Harry Clayton Blizzard in Baltimore, MD. After graduating from Westminster High School, Henry moved to Long Island where he met and fell in love with Jane Viney. They married soon thereafter and raised 3 children in Massapequa, Long Island.

Henry worked for various defense-related industries during and after World War II before ultimately founding the Hallmark Chemical Manufacturing Corporation, where he developed tile grouts and mortars for the ceramic tile industry.

Henry and Jane retired to the home Henry built in Wells, NY in 1976. Over the next nearly 40 years, they entertained family and friends at their property which was a popular destination in the Adirondack Mountains. Nearly any conversation would end with an invitation to, "Come up to Wells and visit us sometime." Hank was a very skilled craftsman and enjoyed making clocks, furniture, and many other items in his wood shop.

Henry is predeceased by his wife of 78 years, Jane Blizzard. Henry is survived by their children, Gary, Bryan, and Susan Halleran; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and countless friends who have been touched by his generosity over his long and happy life.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the entire staff at The Nottingham for taking such loving care of Henry and Jane over the last several years.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Ann's Church in Wells on Wednesday, December 19th in accordance with his wishes.

Donations may be made to the Wells Volunteer Ambulcance Corp. or St. Ann's Church, both in Wells, NY 12190.
