Helen Ferrier Wessel, 99, passed away on June 15, 2023, at home in Jamesville, NY. She was born on February 8, 1924, in Ottawa, Canada to Russell and Mary Ferrier. She graduated from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario. She married Gunter Wessel on June 20, 1953, in Ottawa, and they moved to the US in September 1953. She loved to travel, visiting not only sites in the United States, but also several countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. She was known for her compassion towards others, her fun sense of humor and feistiness.  She volunteered at schools, DeWitt Community Church, and with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed tennis and skiing in her early years, golfing with her husband and friends, and was an avid bridge player for many years. Most of all she enjoyed her children and extended family. Her philosophy was “Be good to other people.”

Predeceased by her husband, Helen is survived by her son Peter (Susan) Wessel, daughters Catherine (Karl) Walli and Barbara (Alan) Rudolph, grandson David (Jessica) Rudolph, granddaughter Caroline (Joe) Schnering, and a great-grandson.

A funeral service will be held on June 21, 2023, at DeWitt Community Church in DeWitt, NY, with calling hours at 10am, service at 11am, with a reception immediately following at noon.
