Helen Schafer

Helen Schafer, 93, of Syracuse passed away at The Grand on Sunday. She was a graduate of Central High School and then spent most of her life in Fairmount. Helen worked for many years in the auto insurance industry. She volunteered at Community General Hospital in their gift shop and sang with women's barbershop groups. She loved to talk to everyone she met. She was predeceased by her husband Henry. She is survived by her children, John, Dennis (Sue) and Loretta (Christopher) Welter; grandchildren and great grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Helen's life will be at Holy Cross Church, Dewitt at 10 a.m. on Wednesday March 28. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Burns Garfield Funeral Home has taken care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Grand Residents' Activities Fund, 331 Russell Street, Chittenango, N.Y. 13037.
