Helen M. Christopher passed away peacefully on July 4, 2021, just one day after her 95th birthday. She was born at home on the family farm on July 3, 1926 to Mary (nee Walycki) and Alexander Klemm. She married her beloved husband, Anthony, on October 27, 1951. Anthony preceded her in death in 1967.
At the time of her death Helen had been a resident of the Syracuse Home in Baldwinsville for three years. Previously, she had homes in Syracuse and West Leyden, NY and split her time between them for over four decades.
Helen loved food: dining out, eating at home, sharing a meal, experimenting with the new & unfamiliar, collecting recipes, and reading about restaurants.
Helen loved animals: she loved to tell her children about the animals at the farm; and over the years had several dogs & many cats – she really loved her cats.
Helen loved taking pictures and filled her home with photo albums. And, especially, Helen loved music, a passion she passed on to her youngest son.
A lifelong caregiver, Helen worked as a nurse, finally retiring after a long career as an operating room Nurse at the VA in Syracuse. Privately, she cared for her mother, eldest brother, and husband for several years each at the end of their lives.
Helen is predeceased by her husband Anthony, and brothers Adolph & Henry. She is survived by her three children, Peter of Syracuse, Marie of Liverpool, Paul & his wife Kerri of Louisiana; sisters-in-law Grace and Alice; brothers-in-law Raymond and Robert; and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 12, 2020 at Burns-Garfield "A Life Celebration" Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am prior to the service. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
