Richard Gregory (Greg) Damon, 71, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021. A lifelong resident of Syracuse, he was born in 1950 to Richard and Virginia Damon. He attended St. John the Baptist Academy and Christian Brothers Academy, graduating in 1968. Greg attended SUNY Oswego where he graduated in 1972. He spent his career as a Commercial Lines Underwriter, retiring in 2011. Greg was a quick-witted guy who loved to joke around and spend time with friends and family.
As a child, Greg was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed time with his father hunting, fishing and boating and he especially loved his time spent at the family camp on Lake Ontario. He loved telling the childhood story of beating Dolph Schayes in a free-throw shooting competition at summer camp at age 12. As an adult, Greg's hobbies included golf, watching sports - especially the Green Bay Packers and Syracuse- grilling steaks and was an avid music listener. He also loved time with his grandchildren.
Greg is survived by: his daughter, Hillary Damon (Joseph Resti) of Manlius, NY; his son Eric Damon of Syracuse, NY; his grandchildren, Andrew, Eloise and Caroline Resti of Manlius, NY; his sister, Susan Morgan (Daniel Chambliss) of Cazenovia, NY; his brother, Christopher Damon (Mary Jane) of CT, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Audrey, in 2016 and his parents Richard and Virginia.
