Gloria Ann Vanderpool, 78, passed away on June 15, 2022, at her home with her family by her side after a long illness. Glorai graduated Cum Laude from Cazenovia College earning an Assocaites Degree. Gloria retired from Mutual of New York (MONY) Insurance Company as an Affirmative Action Coordinator in 1998. Gloria was a member of Grace Episcopal Church for 58 years, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and coordinator of the Church Food Pantry. Gloria was an active member of her community and loved giving back. She served many local organizations including the Board of Youth and Aging and Girls Scouts of America. Gloria was also a sister of the Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority.
She enjoyed her murder mysteries, "Scarecrow and Mrs. King" and "Murder she Wrote" were amongst her favorites. Gloria very much enjoyed going on family vacations, but her absolute favorite trip was the one she took with her husband and longtime friends, the Stewarts. They drove cross country to the West Coast and attended a live taping of The Price is Right, which was her favorite game show.
Gloria was a very giving and loyal person, with a heart of gold. She adored her family with every fiber of her being and absolutely got a kick out of being a Grandmother, which was a hat she wore flawlessly.
Gloria came from a big family, as she was the oldest of 13 children. She was predeceased by her mother, Williemae Lewis; her father, Theodore Dumas, Stepmother Ethel Watkins; sister Deborah Lewis; brother Derek Lewis. Gloria leaves to cherish her legacy, a loving and devoted Husband Charles R. Vanderpool, Daughters; Renee (Martin) Hicks, Lisa (Carl) Rucker, and Bridget Vanderpool; Grandson D'Sean (Ana) Handy, Granddaughters Taylor Handy and Morgan Rucker; Great Grand-daughter Delena Handy. Gloria also leaves her stepbrother, Marc Dumas and half-sister Evalena Smith; her brothers and sisters, Wanda (David) Dunbar, Janet DuBois, Cynthia (Kenny) Lewis, Brenda (Daryl) Brooks and Sandra (Lonnie) Sistruck, brothers Kenny Lewis, Ronnie Lewis, Paul (Lisa) Lewis and Greg Lewis, and a plethora of nieces, nephews and friends.
The Vanderpool's would like to thank Cynthia Lewis, for all the extra care and support over this transitional period, words cannot express all the appreciation. Thank you to Yevette Miller for her help in Gloria's care.

Funeral Services will be Friday, June 24 at Noon at Grace Episcopal Church, 819 Madison St. Syracuse. Calling hours will be held from 10 am - 12 pm at the church prior to the services.
