Georgia Katopes

January 31, 1924 — January 29, 2021

Georgia Katopes, of Fayetteville, NY, passed away on January 29, 2021. Georgia married Charles Katopes on June 25, 1950. She was the daughter of Gus and Della (Pappas) Kanelis. Georgia retired from Onondaga County, working in Vital Statistics. She was a member of St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church. Georgia served as Governor, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer for the Philoptochos Society and held many offices for the Daughters of Penelope. She enjoyed working at the Greek Cultural Festival where she co-chaired the pastry booth for many years. Georgia enjoyed sewing and won many ribbons at the New York State Fair. She looked forward to meeting with friends at the Corinthian Club gatherings. She was an amazing baker of many sweets.

Georgia was predeceased by her father, Gus, mother, Della, husband, Charles, daughter, Mary Ann, brother, George and sister in law, Mary. Georgia is survived by her daughter, Diane (James) Kennedy, son-in-law, Charles Lewis, grandchildren, Brian (Katie) Kennedy, Alissa Kennedy, Andrew (Alexandra) Lewis, Allison (Joseph) Lewis and three great-grandchildren, Cassandra Kennedy, Cameron and Theodore Lewis.

Services will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 1:00pm at St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, 325 Waring Road, Syracuse, NY 13224.

The family would like to thank the loving staff at Peregrine Senior Living, and a special thank you to her favorite caregiver, Victor.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church.
