Ernest "Ernie" Brewster Turner, 68, of Sandy Pond, New York, passed away on December 19th, 2017.
Born March 7th, 1949 in Oswego, New York, he was the son of the late Jane W. Roberts, his beloved mother and Thomas B. Turner his father. He grew up as a child in Fruit Valley and then the Syracuse area before spending most of his adult life on Sandy Pond.
Ernie attended Nottingham High School and then followed in his family's footsteps by graduating from Syracuse University where he was an active member of the Psi Upsilon fraternity. He then went on to be the proud owner of several businesses including Brewster's Restaurant in Sandy Pond, and Murdock's Sports in Oswego. He devoted the last few years of his life caring for his beloved friend, the late Bill Drescher of Syracuse.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents and his loyal Labradors, Murdock, Brewster and Buster. He is survived by his son Benjamin Turner, daughter Amy Turner, brothers Rich Turner and Bart Turner, and their families. His presence will be missed by hundreds of beloved family and friends from Syracuse, the Pond, and beyond.
Ernie cherished his family history and, most of all, his family cottage on Sandy Pond. Ernie was always up for taking a drive, singing loudly to any oldie that came on the radio, and spending time with friends at The Pond.
"E.B.T", as he was also known, had a larger than life personality. The combination of his endless generosity, unflinching loyalty, great listening ear, jovial sense of humor and booming voice made him everyone's friend. Everywhere you went someone knew Ernie Turner and every time he walked in the room you were guaranteed to become his pal and leave with a smile on your face.
The Turner family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ernie's friends and neighbors; some whom have gone above and beyond in their undying love and support of Ernie. Calling hours will be held Thursday, December 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee St. Syracuse, N.Y. 13224. A Celebration of Life will be planned for the summer in Sandy Pond for friends and family to attend.
