Ernest S. Rose

August 11, 1950 — March 2, 2018

Ernest S. Rose, 67, of DeWitt, passed away March 2, 2018 at Crouse Hospital. He was born to Samuel C. Rose and Helen G. Rose in Minneapolis on August 11, 1950. He earned degrees in psychology and law from the University of Minnesota.
He spent much of his career in performing arts management with the Sioux City Symphony, the Binghamton Philharmonic, and as Operations Manager and later Executive Director of the Syracuse Symphony, before owning a music store in DeWitt. On his own time, he played violin with the Onondaga Civic Symphony Orchestra and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
His is survived by his son, Samuel Rose of Syracuse; his former wife, Patricia Sharpe of Syracuse; his sisters Jacqueline Craver of San Clemente, CA and Beryl Rhodes of Las Vegas; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 12:30pm, calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10 am- 12:30 pm at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse.
