Erin Bartolo

Erin Elizabeth Bartolo passed away at home on April 3, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Erin was the devoted mother to Avi, beloved daughter of Cynthia Forst and David Fraley, cherished sister of Sarah Costello (Jim Costello), maternal granddaughter of Lorraine Forst, the late David Forst, paternal granddaughter of the late Phyllis and Robert Fraley and loved by aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, friends and colleagues.

Along with her devotion to her family and friends, Erin was dedicated to her professional endeavors. She enjoyed a career researching and discussing technology, politics, culture and media. Erin received her undergraduate and Master’s degrees from SUNY Brockport in political communication, rhetoric and persuasion and in media literacy as an alternative to censorship. Erin joined The School of Information Studies (iSchool) at Syracuse University as a Data Science Program Manager and Graduate Recruiting Manager. Erin continued her studies at the iSchool in nonconforming technology practices, completed research and teaching practica, and was All But Dissertation (ABD) in her doctoral program.

Some of the things that Erin treasured were dance parties, Friday pizza and movie night and snuggle time with her son, stimulating conversations with colleagues, family and friends, leisurely dining experiences and simply put, quality time with those she loved. She gave you her full attention and wanted nothing more than to be present with you.

Erin’s family would like to express thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Upstate and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centers and Hospice of CNY. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Friday, April 8, 2022, from 11:00-1:00 with a service following immediately after at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee Street- Syracuse, New York 13224.
