Ellen Andreatta, the loving wife of Geno Andreatta, passed away at Crouse Hospital on Monday, February 6, 2017, surrounded by family. Born and raised in Berkeley, California but living most of her life in Central New York, she remained true to her west coast roots and was truly a "California Soul".
Ellen and Geno met at San Francisco State and together headed east to Syracuse where they raised their family. Ellen worked for the Jamesville DeWitt Central School District as a teaching assistant in the special education department.
Her kindness and generosity were felt and embraced by everyone she met. Her sense of humor was infectious and brought a smile to all. Upon retirement Ellen and Geno enjoyed traveling and saw the world. Their travels inspired many creative meals for family and friends. Ellen was an enthusiastic sports fan, celebrating the highs and lows of Syracuse basketball and the NY Yankees. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb especially during the winter months when the house was filled with plants and flowers.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 60 years, Geno, daughter Susan (Timothy Johnston) of Greensboro, NC, son Stephen (Kate) of Binghamton, NY, daughter Cindy of DeWitt, NY, and two granddaughters, Devin Andreatta and Sophia Vinciguerra.
Calling hours will be Friday from 3-6 pm at Burns Garfield Funeral Home. 3175 East Genesee St. Syracuse. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Kid's Wish Network, granting wishes and helping children in need. (kidswishnetwork.org)
