Elizabeth Kent

April 12, 1971 — June 15, 2019

Elizabeth Anne Kent peacefully passed on in the heartfelt company of her family and friends on Saturday June 15th, 2019. Born in Rome, NY on April 12, 1971 to William S. Dumas of Fulton, NY and to Elizabeth Dumas (Mizgala) of Mexico, NY. Liz grew up in Syracuse with her four brothers and sisters and had treasured memories of growing up alongside them. She adored her Grandmother and the Barbie doll she received from her, as well as wearing her favorite pair of Jordache jeans in elementary school. Liz was a caring soul who touched the lives of all who were around her with unconditional love.

She was an incredible hockey mom, displaying complete passion and dedication to both of her son's careers. Her sense of humor and sharp wit were truly special. She could make her friends and family laugh hysterically with her takes on everyday life. She loved playing any type of game, from Yahtzee to Call of Duty, all stemming from her competitive spirit and her unwavering passion for anything she did.

She taught us all a lesson in courage and strength, and never used her illness as an excuse. Despite many dark times and setbacks, she rarely failed to maintain an optimistic outlook. Of all her qualities, loyalty and selflessness were her greatest. She continually sacrificed in order to give her sons every opportunity. She taught them about paying the price to achieve their goals.Although she will be missed, that spirit will remain in us all.

Liz is survived by her husband Brian, her sons Jack and Bill, her mother Elizabeth Dumas and her father William Dumas. Her brother Bill Dumas, brother Robert Dumas, sister Linda Bavaria and brother-in-law Nicholas Bavaria, and brother David Dumas and sister-in-law Lisa Dumas, nieces Melissa Giblin and Emily Dumas, and nephews David Dumas, Nicholas Bavaria, and Mark Dumas, along with countless friends.

The Kent family would like to thank Memorial Sloan Kettering for their tireless and heroic efforts to give Liz the best care in the world and quality of life possible, as well as Crouse Hospital and The Grand Healthcare System for their heartwarming presence.
