Edward Carney "Ted" Costello

January 29, 1924 — April 27, 2017

Edward Costello, known as Ted to his family and friends, died on April 27, 2017 at the age of ninety-three. The son of Gregory M. and Helena (Carney) Costello, Ted was born January 29, 1924 in Baltimore Maryland and was raised and educated in the Syracuse area. He was inducted into the United States Army on February 6, 1943 and served during World War II in the Signal Corps with the 256th Field Artillery until his honorable discharge in 1946. Ted was an electrician with Carrier Corporation having retired for after 44 years of employment. He was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fayetteville for over sixty years.

Ted is survived by his wife of 68 years, Janet (Olson), and sons David (Karen) of New Bern NC, Gregory of Knifley KY and Douglas (Debbie) of Cicero NY; six grand children, Stephen (Adrienne), Carol (Eric), Tao (Jaime), Chandra (Ian), Julia (PJ) ,Christopher (Cristy) ; seven great-grand children and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers and sisters: Thomas, Helena (Ormond), Mary Dorothy (Bronner), Jane Rita (Orr), Florence (James), Richard, and James.

Ted lived a long and rewarding life. His family and friends have fond memories from all the gatherings of his charm, his sense of humor, his funny playing of his harmonica and his loving affection for his family and grandchildren and the faith-filled and upright life he lived.

The family would like to extend appreciation to Julie Reidl and the caregivers who have provided for Ted. There will be no calling hours. Services are private at the convenience of the family. Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, Syracuse is responsible for Ted's burial arrangements.
