Donald Steenberg

Donald W. Steenberg, 89, of Manlius, NY passed away peacefully July 9, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born in Potsdam, NY on August 12, 1928 he lived most of his life in Syracuse and Manlius. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1951 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for the next 39 years at Bendix Aviation, Lamson, Westinghouse and Translogic before retiring at 62. He was a member of Drumlins Golf Course and an avid Syracuse University sports fan. He enjoyed vacations in the Adirondacks and Oneida Lake and attended yearly Westcott Street reunions. He was a longtime member of University United Methodist Church where he served as President of the Board of Trustees. 

Donald was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne Kehoe Steenberg and his siblings Larry Steenberg, Robert Steenberg, Nancy Peet and Bruce Steenberg. He is survived by his children Russell (Pat Colbert) Steenberg of Westfield, NJ, Matthew (Lynn) Steenberg of Webster, NY, and Gale (Jeff) Youmell of Jordan, NY; his grandchildren Chrysa, Matt, Ryan, Sara, Laura, Katherine, Becca and Kelsey and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, August 18, at 11:00 am at University United Methodist Church, 1085 E Genesee St, Syracuse, NY. Calling hours will be held Friday, August 17, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee St, Syracuse, NY.
