David Vartabedian

October 30, 1937 — August 4, 2019

David J. Vartabedian of Syracuse, NY passed away suddenly at his home on August 4. David grew up in Somerville, MA and graduated with a business degree from Boston University. He later served as a pilot in the Air Force. David spent a large portion of his career working for Conagra. Most recently, David ran his own advertising business, Spectator Sports Marketing. David was a beloved father described by many to be fun loving, charismatic, smart, witty and proud. He was a kid at heart who love making people laugh. He was a truly gifted artist and enjoyed golfing, Boston and Syracuse sports, cars, and spending time at the beach; but most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his beloved family.
David was predeceased by his wife, Janet, his father, Jacob, his mother, Mae Foster, and siblings Ann, Delores, Connie and Jacob. He is survived by his five children, David (Maaike), Karen, Erin (Brandon) Zick, Bradley and Kristian (Sarah); Sisters Mary Paridiso and Barbara Atamian; Eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and his two beloved cats, Puff & Catsby.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8 at Burns Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E Genesee St, Syracuse NY 13224. A private burial service will be held on August 9 at St. Mary's Cemetery in DeWitt.
